A President having a library is pretty much par for the course. Wanting to erect some kind of "Triumphal Arch" is another (not to mention tearing down part of the White House to build a ballroom).
If Trump just wanted a library, I'd have nothing to say about that. (Okay, not true, because I doubt that the man has ever read a book in his life.)
At the risk of sounding like a Trump spokesman, the arc is officially dedicated, not to Trump, but to the 250th birthday of the country (wink wink, nod nod). As for the ballroom, I view it as hardly necessary, but nobody said anything when Obama put a basketball court in the White House.
As for reading books, I agree he isn't that well-spoken, but he did get a good education, and he has written at least one book that I know of.
There are many valid reasons to criticize Trump or not like him. I think you are nitpicking here.
Obama adapted an existing tennis court by adding lines and hoops. He didn't build it in the White House or tear a whole wing down. The comparison isn't even close, but I should have preempted it because I'm familiar with the talking point.
As for the book, we know that his ghost writer did it for him..
Makes me miss the understated "Mission Accomplished!" banner of W.
ReplyDeleteWait till you see the Obama Library.
