He should have proudly said, yes, we are doing our job, doing it thoroughly, and we stand on our record.<br /><br />The IRS had every reason in the world to examine the Tea Party groups minutely before granting any kind of tax exempt status. All these groups could have indulged in free speech as much as they wanted -- the IRS can't prevent that.
