Al Sharpton's Vintage Performance in Minneapolis

Any naive hope that Al Sharpton would use his speaking appearance today at the memorial service for George Floyd to help calm the waters and help bring an end to the rioting were dashed as soon as he took the podium  He began by attacking President Trump and his walk to St John's Church after it was set alight.  He talked about himself as if today was all about him. He accused white people in general of kneeling on the necks of black people in general. He referred to certain people as "roaches". It was vintage Sharpton, The only thing missing was "white interlopers", "pinning back yarmulkas", and innocent Jews and Korean store owners being attacked outside the venue.

Sharpton neglected to mention as he was attacking the American justice system that the 4 cops (now ex-cops) who took part in the wrongful killing of Floyd are now facing murder charges. The system is working, but the Al Sharptons of the world won't give it a chance to play out. Instead of appealing for calm, Sharpton essentially encouraged the rioters to continue the violence. History has shown that Al Sharpton's words have consequences. Ask the people of Crown Hts in New York. Ask the Korean grocery store owners.

All in all, it was a despicable and obscene performance. He did not honor George Floyd, his family, or the peaceful protesters. He did not bring people together. Instead, he gave true meaning to the words, "rabble-rouser".
