Venezuela's "Collectives"

One of the nasty features of today's Venezuela under Nicolas Maduro is the presence of "colectivos" (Collectives), which are gangs of thugs loyal to the Maduro government and acting as enforcers. They ride around in large groups on motorcycles, masked and armed with various kinds of weapons. In short, they act to terrorize the populace.

Below is a video taken on February 23 in the northern town of San Felipe in the state of Yaracuy. Women and a child in a passing car came across a "colectivo" and videotaped them. There is a reference to Julio Leon, who is apparently the governor of the state of Yaracuy, and who one of the women suspects may be paying for the services of the "colectivo".

I can only hope that images like this are viewed by the likes of Danny Glover, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, Oliver Stone, Harry Belafonte and other Hollywood figures who have been traipsing down to Venezuela over the years to prop up Maduro and his predecessor, Hugo Chavez. They should all hang their heads in shame.
