Dar al Hijrah Mosque (Falls Church) and FMG

Hat tip Investigative Project on Terrorism

As US-based Muslim leaders rush to tell us that female genital mutilation has nothing to do with Islam, an imam at the Falls Church, Virginia mosque gave a sermon on May 19 that contradicted that line. Imam Shaker Elsayed discussed the practice of "female circumcision" in his sermon, and he endorsed it.

First of all, this particular mosque has been at the center of several terrorist investigations over the years. Anwar al Awlaki, the US-born terrorist leader who was killed by a US drone strike in Yemen, was imam at this mosque.

It is true that not all Muslims practice FGM, and there are other parts of the world, particularly Africa, where non-Muslims practice it. Yet, the practice is widespread in Islam especially in countries like Somalia and Egypt.

And what is the Islamic rationale for FGM? Jihad Watch has the answer.

"Why is it obligatory? Because Muhammad is held to have said so: “Abu al- Malih ibn Usama’s father relates that the Prophet said: ‘Circumcision is a law for men and a preservation of honour for women.’” — Ahmad Ibn Hanbal 5:75.

Make no mistake: This is occurring in the West. Many European countries have learned that FMG is being carried out behind closed doors or immigrant families are sending their daughters back home for the procedure. And now we have the first pending prosecution of two Muslim doctors in the Detroit area for carrying out the procedure on young Muslim girls. This must not be allowed to occur here. Muslim girls in the US are legally entitled to have the same protections from this barbaric procedure as anyone else. Unlike male circumcision, which is performed properly after birth, the only reason for female circumcision is to take away a female's sexual drive and keep her "pure".

This is barbaric. The words of Elsayed are barbaric. It is another reason why need to keep close tabs on these mosques.

The operative words are "is said to have held." That means, "I can't find it anywhere in the Koran, and the Prophet has been dead for centuries, but damn it, I want it to be true, so I urge you to consider my speculation as holy writ." OF course those who want to believe this tripe do.

Siarlys,

It is not I who say that Mohammad said it. It is the quoted Muslim source. What those who call us Islamophobes neglect is that our sources for these things comes from Islamic texts and sermons. So when we quote the KOran or the Hadith-Sunnah, we get blamed.
