Springtime in Paris

Hat tip Vlad Tepes

With a special tip of the hat to Frank Sinatra

If April 1 is April Fool's Day, May 1 must be May Fool's Day. That's when all the unemployed of the world turn out to celebrate International Workers Day and cause problems on the streets. Paris was no exception today. Back here in the US, Congresswoman Maxine Waters was quick to condemn the rioters.

Actually, May 1 commemorates the Eight Hour Day movement in the good old USA. Only employed workers worry about an eight hour day. Unemployed workers have all day to themselves. (Although unemployed workers looking for a job do better if employers have to limit one worker's hours to 40 a week, and hire another worker if they have more work they need done.)

I would say those on the streets May 1 were unemployed non-workers.
