Bill O'Reilly

"Caution: You are about to enter the No-Bill Zone"

Suddenly, Bill O'Reilly is gone from Fox News. His show, The Factor, was by far the most popular cable news talk show and had been for years. However, O'Reilly has been at the center of numerous sexual harassment allegations by various women, advertisers were dropping the show, and Fox made the decision that he had to go. What the future holds for O'Reilly is uncertain.

I was a regular viewer of The Factor. I found O'Reilly to be very entertaining. Unlike many other talking heads, he tried to be fair, but it was pretty obvious he was a conservative and was deeply critical of President Obama. Occasionally, he got minor facts wrong, but they didn't distort the truth of the story.

O'Reilly was also famous for a volcanic temper. Several years ago he was caught on video tape blowing up at his stage staff while getting ready to go on the air when something went awry. His blowup with Geraldo Rivera over immigration was rather shocking. What really appalled me was his insults at George Will calling him a hack on the air for criticizing his book, "Killing Reagan".

I don't know what the truth is regarding the sexual harassment allegations. I don't know whether O'Reilly is a likable guy in real life or not. It is troubling that Fox is at the center of a lot of sexual harassment allegations beginning with the forced resignation of Roger Ailes. Of course, it is hardly a secret that the left had O'Reilly in their sights, and there are allegations of groups like Media Matters raising money to go after him and others at Fox. It is a sign of just how low the leftist media will sink. Whether O'Reilly deserved his fate or was a victim of false allegations, I will leave for others to decide.

Fox, however, does have a worthy successor in Tucker Carlson, who has shown himself to be a willing and capable debater with the voices on the left. His ratings since getting hos own show are quite high. The network, does need to take these recent allegations from former female workers seriously.

Willing, yes, but Tucker Carlson is not capable. He does, however, manage to find social democrats who are equally vapid and disorganized, which makes him look good by comparison.

Low hanging fruit, perhaps?
