Is There Censorship at Boulder Jewish News?

Apparently so. This week I read the below-linked article in the Boulder Jewish News regarding an interview with an Islamic Studies professor named Aun Hasan Ali at Colorado University.

http://boulderjewishnews.org/2016/cu-professor-addresses-sharia-law/

As you will note, there is a space for reader comments. As of today, it says there are no comments as yet. Well, that's not entirely accurate. Yesterday, I sent in a comment to the effect that under hudud sharia, ("Crimes Against God"), homosexual acts, adultery, blasphemy and apostasy are all punished by death.

As of this writing, my comment has not been posted. I guess the BJN doesn't want any bad news spoiling their kumbaya story.

*Update (October 4) They posted it.

So students at the University of Michigan can choose their own identities and how they want to be addressed even making up new pronouns that are not deemed "sexist"? "OK," says one conservative student. "I wish to be addressed as 'His Majesty"'.

And so it shall be.

On to San Diego

I will be off-line for the next three days as I will be attending a DEA retirees convention in San Diego.

UC Irvine Celebrates E-Gaming on Campus

"Watch out for that anteater!"

An "E-Sports arena" and scholarships. Not for A students entering from high school, not for a star athletes recruited to play basketball, but for e-gaming.
“There are some people who asked the question, ‘Why would UCI think about putting in an e-sports arena?’” Vice Chancellor Thomas Parham said. “Our job is not to follow the leader. Our job is to set the curve.
“I want everybody in the country following our lead,” he said.

So for those who ask, "What does this have to do with education?" I say: "Nothing!"

I mean, what is next? Are we going to bring in world renowned brain surgeon Dr Arnold Schwarzenegger to teach these courses? How about Professors Super Mario Brothers? (If you hire one, you have to hire the other. That's the rule.)

The El Cajon Shooting

Hat tip Hot Air and Gateway Pundit

Image result for el cajon shooting of alfred olango
Don't try this at home.

Two days ago, police in El Cajon, located near San Diego, responded to calls of a man behaving erratically behind a restaurant. When the cops arrived they encountered Alfred Olango, an Ugandan refugee, who had twice been ordered deported. Olango, who had his hands in his pockets, refused to comply with officers' commends. He then withdrew his hands and assumed a two-handed shooting position with an object in his hands which later turned out to be an e-cigarette device. He was shot and killed. There is video of the encounter and photos released clearly show him in the shooting position in front of the cops. At first glance, this appears to be a case of suicide by cop. That has not stopped the usual suspects from turning out in force to protest police shootings of "unarmed" black men,

http://hotair.com/archives/2016/09/28/police-killed-alfred-olango-tuesday-el-cajon-ca/

From Al Jazeera to the radical left-wing sites, the headlines are screaming that cops have killed an "unarmed, mentally-disturbed black man" once again. The El Cajon mayor states that he is concerned about the fact that the shooting took place only one minute after cops arrived. He should be concerned that Olango took his shooting position only one minute after cops arrived. Had that device actually been a gun and the cops waited to determine 100% what it was before firing, we would have one dead cop to talk about. It may be tragic, but it is a justified shooting.

In addition, yesterday, a young man wearing a cap that identified him as a Trump supporter showed up at the protest. He was attacked by a mob and beaten.

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2016/09/omg-leftist-mob-beats-kicks-pummels-trump-supporter-wearing-maga-hat-saved-police-caught-video/

Are we starting to notice a trend here? With rare exceptions, the shootings are justified. Those that are not are dealt with by our justice system (N. Charleston, Tulsa). Yet the protests and the riots accompany every shooting now.

When It Comes to Anti-Semitism, UC Berkeley Is the Worst

This article first appeared in Eagle Rising.

The University of California at Berkeley has for years been considered one of the most prestigious universities in the land even as it has built a reputation for left-wing craziness and lack of tolerance for anything other than liberal orthodoxy. In recent years, it has been among the leaders in pro-Palestinian/anti-Israel activism. One reason is the presence of Professor Hatem Bazian, a Palestinian who came to the US to obtain his higher education and is now ensconced at Berkeley. This is a character who has called for an intifada in the US and has been reported to have told a student audience to go out and count the number of buildings on campus with Jewish names. In addition, Bazian is a co-founder of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a brown shirt organization that uses tactics of bullying, disruption and intimidation on campuses nation-wide. Bazian is also co-founder of something called the Islamophobia Research and Documentation Center, which in spite of its grandiose title, occupies little more than a broom closet in room 638 of Barrows Hall on the UCB campus.

Not surprisingly, SJP is quite active on the UCB campus as they carry on a never-ending campaign against Israel. As a result, Jewish students at UCB, much like Jewish students on many college campuses, often have to attend school in a climate of fear. Just ask Jessica Felber, a young Jewish student who while attending UCB a few years ago had a loaded shopping cart rammed into her from behind by an SJP student activist.

http://www.berkeleyside.com/2011/03/07/jewish-student-sues-uc-berkeley-over-assault-by-palestine-supporter/

Or ask the Jewish students who held a peaceful protest after swastikas started appearing on campus in 2010. They were heckled and given the finger by a professor named Andrew Gutierrez  Gutierrez, now retired, is married to a charming lady who is a member of Women in Black, who show up on campus regularly and bother everybody screaming against Israel.

http://garyfouse.blogspot.com/2010/05/uc-berkeley-professor-objects-to.html

There are many more episodes I could recount, but you get the flavor. Most recently, UCB has risen to the pinnacle of academic anti-Semitism with a recently announced course offering sponsored by Bazian that is dedicated to deligitimizing Israel. To make things even crazier, it is not taught by one of Berkeley's myriad of wacky, left-wing professors, rather by a student-and a member of SJP. That, of course, prompted an avalanche of letters protesting the course on the grounds that not only did it constitute yet another contribution to campus anti-Jewish sentiment, but that it violated the UC Regents' Policy on Course Content-to wit: the classroom is not a place for a teacher to promote his or her political agenda (wink wink, nod nod). It was also pointed out that the course did not go through the requisite approval process. That led to the school briefly suspending the course pending approval, which then went through faster than FBI Director James Comey could clear Hillary Clinton of any wrongdoing in the email scandal.

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-uc-berkeley-palestine-20160919-snap-story.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

That controversy was accompanied by the latest revelation, the appearance on campus of anti-Jewish posters (Not anti-Zionist, not anti-Israel, but anti-Jewish).

http://garyfouse.blogspot.com/2016/09/jew-hating-posters-at-uc-berkeley.html

True, the school has condemned the posters, but until we see the culprits identified and expelled, the statement rings hollow. And I firmly believe the culprits can be identified. They don't have far to look, you know.

Several years ago, David Horowitz came to speak at UC Irvine, where I teach part-time, and pronounced UCI as the worst university in the country when it came to these problems. That may have been true then due to the excesses of the Muslim Student Union and its long list of radical, anti-Semitic invited speakers, but I don't think it's true today-though far from perfect. That dubious distinction belongs now to UCB with San Francisco State running a close second.

Part of the problem at Berkeley has been the presence of a feckless chancellor named Nicholas Dirks, who has been forced out of office by the equally incompetent Janet Napolitano (Yes, that Janet Napolitano), who is now UC president. Dirks not only used tax-payer funds for a trip to India, a personal trainer, and to construct an escape hatch from his office in the event of student protests, but also to hire a PR firm to promote his image as he sought bigger and better positions in life. Standing up to  brown shirted thugs on campus is not his specialty.

http://garyfouse.blogspot.com/2016/08/more-dirt-on-dirks-uc-berkeley.html

But what to do about rampant anti-Semitism at UC Berkeley? Clearly, the time for writing letters of protest has passed. They have resulted only in cosmetic changes like the UC Regents' Policy on Course Content as well as the recently adopted Regents' Statement of Principles on Tolerance, which was written with specific reference to anti-Semitism after years of complaints. They are now little more than scraps of paper. What is now needed is lawsuits against UCB and any other university that tolerates anti-Semitic intimidation. In addition, donors who care about this issue should stop giving to schools that don't protect their Jewish students. Finally, Jewish students and their families should reconsider any thoughts of attending schools like Berkeley. Only when their reputations and their coffers are in the toilet will schools like Berkeley begin to take the problem seriously.

Who Is Alicia Machado?

Image result for german beer drinkers
"Alice! Alice! Who the f--- is Alice?"
(Don't blame me. It's a German beer drinking song.)

During this week's debate, Hillary Clinton, that great champion of women) brought up the name of Alicia Machado, a former Miss Universe from Venezuela, who Trump had referred to as "Miss Piggy". (Too bad Trump didn't bring up Monica Lewinsky, whom Hillary referred to as a "narcissistic loony-tune".) So, now. Miss Machado, who is supporting Clinton is the flavor of the week and everybody is rushing to interview her as to how bad Trump is.

Problem is, if you are going weigh Machado's credibility, here is more on Hillary's poster girl.

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2016/09/28/miss-universe-alicia-machado-accused-threatening-to-kill-judge-in-late-90s.html

Threatened to kill a judge? Reportedly drove the get away car from a murder scene?

Yeah-I really care what this woman has to say.

Stanford Professor Sticks His Foot in His Mouth

Poor Stanford University Professor David Palumbo-Liu. He just can't avoid sticking his foot in his mouth. Now he is accusing the AMCHA Initiative and other pro-Israel voices of "intimidating" critics of Israel on campuses.

https://www.algemeiner.com/2016/09/27/campus-watchdog-rejects-stanford-profs-defamatory-accusation-that-it-denies-free-speech-of-anti-israel-activists/

Let's be plain: If there is any intimidation going on in our universities-and there is- it is Jewish students who support Israel who are being intimidated. Jewish students do not disrupt pro-Palestinian events. They do not assault pro-Palestinian students. Pro-Israel professors (what few there are) do not ridicule pro-Palestinian students in their classes. When swastikas appear on campuses, they do not serve to intimidate Arab or pro-Palestinian students.

I caught this guy's act at UC Irvine last January when he stated that the State Department's definition of anti-Semitism applied to any criticism of Israel (which it does not).

This is a man who cannot back up his assertions. Instead, when challenged, he turns tail and runs.

Testimony of A True Muslim Moderate Before Congress and the Blowback From CAIR

Hat tip Qudosi Chronicles and Counter Jihad Report

Shireen Qudosi is a young Muslim (Sufi) female who resides in Southern California. She is also what you would call a Muslim reformer. Recently, she testified before Congress along with another Muslim reformer, Dr Zuhdi Jasser. Since I sometimes correspond with Ms Qudosi via email and Facebook, she sent me a link to her testimony, which is below.

http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=67b950d974102ecd40937d5fd&id=f535a6f09e&e=8e3febc9ab

Well, that didn't sit too well among the subversives and bully boys (and girls) at CAIR, an organization dedicated to intimidating us into not speaking ill of Islamic extremism. They immediately attacked her. Specifically, the attackers are two individuals who should never throw stones, Hussam Ayloush, director of the Los Angeles chapter and Zahra Billoo, director of the San Francisco chapter.

http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=67b950d974102ecd40937d5fd&id=2208359343&e=8e3febc9ab

Of course, Ayloush and  Billoo will never recognize that Islam is in need of reform. Ayloush, for one thing, is a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood and radical cleric Yusuf al Qaradawi, spiritual head of the MB as the below photos will attest.
Image result for hussam ayloush and qaradawi            Image result for hussam ayloush and muslim brotherhood poster

Ayloush has a history of controversial comments including some made in my presence. When he spoke in Riverside on the Syrian civil war in November 2013, I asked him why he did not mention anything about the plight of the Syrian Christians who were running for their lives from their Muslim persecutors. I also asked why CAIR would invite radical cleric Siraj Wahhaj to speak at their annual convention in Anaheim given Wahhaj's prior statements about Islam taking over America and calling America a filthy garbage can. For that Ayloush called me a bigot. Check the above link and watch it yourself because I taped it.

Then there was the time in January 2015 when Ayloush appeared at a forum on extremism at the Islamic Center of Garden Grove. At one point, he asked why everyone was talking about young Muslim American men going off to join ISIS ("a dozen or so") and nobody was talking about young Jewish American men going to Israel to join the Israeli Defense Forces "killing the people of Gaza". Again, I was there and taped it.

Billoo is the one who resurrected an old poster that told people they should never cooperate with the FBI. She brought it back to tell Muslims not to talk to the FBI.

Shireen, don't let these two people get under your skin. You should be honored they are attacking you.

*Check out the Qudosi Chronicles, which is now linked on this site.

Incivility vs Intolerance

My friend and colleague, Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, has written an op-ed for Newsweek in which she describes the difference between incivility and intolerance pertaining to the anti-Semitic outbreaks occurring on our college campuses as part of the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

In this article, she refers to problems going on at UC Irvine, where I have taught part-time since 1998. She also links an op-ed in the student newspaper, New University, that criticized UCI Chancellor Howard Gillman for his statements on civility regarding the May 18 disruption of a Jewish event on campus. That prompted a rather long reader thread in which I submitted several comments.

http://www.newsweek.com/anti-semitism-campus-not-just-uncivil-its-intolerant-503491

If you read Tammi's op-ed and the op-ed written by that third year student at UCI along with the defense of the latter by a UCI professor, you begin to understand the marriage between the radical left and the pro-Palestinian movement in academia.

Cheryl Mills Had Classified Info on Her Laptop

FBI Director James Comey's latest testimony before Congress reveals that Hillary Clinton's chief of staff at the State Department, Cheryl Mills, possessed classified information on her laptop.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/09/28/comey-cheryl-mills-laptop-contained-some-classified-information.html

Somewhere David Petraeus must be shaking his head at the selective prosecution within the Justice Department. Mills, on the other hand, was granted immunity.

One wonders why anyone was granted immunity in this case since nobody was ever charged. This strikes me not only as gross incompetence, but willful incompetence.

Swedish Cops Saying, "Enough"

Hat tip Jihad Watch

"Where's our jobs?"

Not even Ingmar Bergman could dream up a movie as depressing as what is happening in Sweden these days. Swedish cops are resigning and more will follow suit. Even Kurt Wallender* has turned in his badge. To show just how much this country under its current government has taken leave of its senses, they are even prioritizing the retraining of returning ISIS fighters (instead of arresting them or keeping them out).

https://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/09/80-of-swedish-police-consider-quitting-over-muslim-migrant-danger/comment-page-1#comment-1529380

I guess the only thing that will save Sweden would be Jimmie Ã…kesson and his Sweden Democrats. Any sensible country would have voted them in long ago, but-this is Sweden-already the rape capital of Europe thanks to its exploding Muslim population.

I think they call it the Stockholm Syndrome. Now I get it.

*Kurt Wallender is the central detective figure in the murder mysteries of Henning Maenkel, famed novelist who recently died. It has been made into several TV series, the best starring Krister Henricksson, who stars as chief detective of the Ystad police in Southern Sweden.

Hillary's Emails: It's Getting Worse

Hat tip PJ Media and Squid

Hillary Clinton told us that the only emails she didn't turn over were those related to her yoga classes, Chelsea's baby and her mother's funeral. However, the latest Friday night dump reveals that some 1,000 emails were discovered by the Dept. of Defense between Hillary and General  David Petraeus when he was the head of Central Command.

We also learn that top State Department honchos were putting pressure on employees not to reveal that they were finding classified information in Hillary's emails.

https://pjmedia.com/trending/2016/09/27/fbi-docs-hillary-deleted-nearly-1000-emails-with-david-petraeus/

This makes the FBI and Justice Department look worse than ever.

Do you think that the moderator of the next debate will ask Mrs Clinton about that? I don't think those emails had anything to do with Chelsea's baby, yoga or funerals.
