Yasmin Seweid is a young Muslim woman who reported to New York police that she had been accosted by drunken white men calling her a terrorist and chanting "Trump" at her.
She has now admitted that the story was made up and has been charged for making a false police report.
Here is the first report which includes the typical reaction from the New York chapter of CAIR.
Had this incident truly happened, I would condemn it and hope that the perps were caught. The problem is that too many of these reported "hate incidents" against Muslims are manufactured. This not only causes police to waste hours and days investigating hoaxes, but also adds to a false narrative that Muslims in America are under attack. The truth is that Christians and other religious minorities in Muslim lands are under attack. I mean churches burning and physical attacks including murder.
That, of course, would never justify treating American Muslims in that manner. Two wrongs don't make a right. I don't doubt that some Muslims have received some less than friendly treatment, which may or may not be criminal in nature. Unfortunately, organizations like CAIR are hysterically using "incidents" like this to cry out to the world that American Muslims are under attack. When a true hate incident against a Muslim occurs, how can we believe it given all the false reports?
I will believe it when the police make arrests. Until then I have to take it with a grain of salt.
