Harvard Law School is all in for the study of sharia law.

Here’s a little Sharia case law: Hudud sharia is that section that deals with “Crimes against God”. That includes apostasy, blasphemy, adultery and homosexual acts. The punishment is death for all as affirmed by virtually every leading school of Islamic law. Sharia law also spells out the rights of women and non-Muslims in a Muslim society, neither of which are equal to Muslim men.
Maybe the Harvard Law school can explain how that is compatible with the US Constitution.
And animal rights?? What rights do animals have under sharia except to be slaughtered by having their throats slit and bleeding out in agony in order to be considered “halal” and fit for eating?

That's how Cajuns slaughter hogs too. Halal, like kosher, is intended to be humane and minimize pain. Whether it does is another question.

Try slitting your own throat and bleeding out. Let me know how it feels. What's wrong with an instantaneous and painless death?

How do you achieve that? (I believe kosher law calls for the animal to be stunned by a heavy blow first, I don't know if halal does also, or not.)

Sharia as I understand it does not allow for the animal to be anesticised in any way. Kosher I don't know. My jewish friends that I have asked say the knife is so sharp that the nerves are instantly severed. I don't know. I have seen videos of animals being shot in the forehead with some sort of gun that stuns them with a bolt of some kind.

The bottom line from this certified meat eater is that animals should be killed in a humane and painless manner. A shot to the brain does it. I also feel an animal should be allowed to live a reasonably long life. I have a real problem eating veal. I love the taste, but I feel sorry for the animal.
