2016 Fousesquawk Jerk of the Year: Angela Merkel

For the first time, a non-American has won the Fousesquawk Golden Penguin as Jerk of the Year. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the queen of Europe's insane open doors policy, has brought her country to its knees by allowing over one million migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to roam around her country committing all sorts of crimes.

The year began auspiciously with the New Years Eve mass sexual assaults carried out against hundreds of woman at Cologne's Central Train Station steps away from the city's iconic Dom cathedral. Over the course of the year, rapes, terrorist attacks and ordinary attacks became the order of the day. Just in the past month, a young girl was raped and murdered by a young Afghan refugee in Freiburg, and a Tunisian man, dedicated to ISIS, murdered a Polish truck driver, commandeered his lorry, and drove it through a crowd at a Berlin Christmas market killing 12. And days later, seven Arab youths tried to light a homeless man on fire at a Berlin subway station.

And through it all, as outrage mounted throughout the land, Merkel repeatedly insisted, "Wir schaffen dass". (We can do this.) plowing ahead and dismissing her critics as racist right-wingers. Exhibiting the tone deafness of a Hillary Clinton, she is still running for re-election as Germany's chancellor.

So congratulations, Frau Merkel. You have done it (Sie haben es geschaffen). You are the 2016 Fousesquawk Jerk of the Year.

No european state has an open border policy. You forgot to take your pills.

You could have fooled me, what with all the refugees, asylum-seekers, migrants and fortune-seekers running amok over there. Thanks to the Schengen Agreement, one can move from one EU country to another freely without passing border checks. Try it sometime. (Don't forget to take your meds.)

There are refugees, asylum-seekers, migrants and fortune-seekers in the USA, but the USA has not an open border policy. Same for european states.

In the USA, citizens and legal migrants can move from one state or county to another freely without passing border checks, but the USA has not an open border policy. Same for Schengen Agreement.

(vous me pardonnnerez pour le droit d'auteur)

And of course, you can not point an open border policy of an european state, altoug the burden of proof is on you.

Just perusing the titles of your links, I see two devoted to Ceuta and Melilla, the Spanish enclaves in N Africa, which are regularly stormed by migrants by the hundreds. If they make to make it over the fence, it's off to the reception center they go.

I see one that indicates a Swedish student blocked the deportation of a migrant on a plane. Cute. Not the only example.

The fact is that Europeans are being raped and murdered by the thousands by refugees, asylum-seekers, migrants etc, and still the flow continues. Courts in places like Sweden refuse to deport violent felons because, after all, their lives would be in danger in places like Afghanistan. Just yesterday, a Libyan asylum-seeker stabbed three people to death in Reading, England. Look at Italy, where NGO ships pick up migrants off the coast of Libya and dump them in Italian ports. Matteo Salvini, the former interior minister, tried to stop them only to be ousted by a parliamentary maneuver and indicted by a Sicilian court.

And still they come, mostly all, young, unaccompanied males.

Do you know acknowledge that no european state has an open border policy?

Mr Kerbs,

For some reason, some of your comments are showing up in my spam box. I have no idea why (LOL).

No, I don't acknowledge your statement, but it depends what your definition of open borders is. When you enter your first EU nation, they will stamp your passport and all that stuff and maybe stop you to open your suitcase before you can follow the green line. Even back in the 70s I was joking that you could smuggle an elephant through European Customs.

Once in the EU, you can travel from one EU nation to another without anyone bothering you. The last time I did this I was on train from Germany to Switzerland with a change in Austria. I only knew I was in Austria because I know my geography, and I knew I was in Switzerland when I saw people at the train station drinking Feldschloesschen beer.

If you are driving, you now go through a sign at the side of the road saying, "Welcome to X". Of course, if the cops know that someone with an arrest warrant or a shipment of drugs is going to cross their border, they can act to intercept him or it.

The point is that the wave of asylum-seekers, refugees, migrants and fortune-seekers now getting into Europe amounts to an open door policy. Just look at what happened Saturday in England. 25-year-old Libyan killed three people. You explain to me how somebody like that is wandering around England. (You can read my daily posts on this case right here at Fousesquawk.)

So, no, I don't agree with your statement because European border controls are a joke. They may exist on paper, but they are a joke, and innocent people are dying because of their lax policies.

Sigh. You are the one who wrote first, in the above article, that Europe has an « open doors policy ». Doesn't this means an open border policy where everybody can freely enter into Europe?

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_border « An open border is a border that enables free movement of people (and often of goods) between jurisdictions with few or no restrictions on movement, that is lacking substantive border control. »

Anyway, please show evidences that Europe (including Russia) has an « insane open doors policy », or retract you claim.

Buzz off.

Nicolas Krebs said...

Why do you hate us?

Gary Fouse said...

Who is "us"?

Nicolas Krebs said...

Europeans.

Gary Fouse said...

Au contraire,

I do not hate Europeans. I have lived in Italy and Germany and have great affection for both countries. I have also learned other European languages and am well traveled on that continent.

I do have criticism, however, just as I point out many of the issues we have here in the US. I am very critical of Europe's current policies with regard to the migrants and asylum-seekers. I think it is insane and spells the death of European civilization. I am also critical of the blind eye that many Europeans including their political leaders have turned towards the anti-semitism and attacks on their Jewish citizens by Muslim gangs.

If there is anything else I have written about Europeans that leads you to believe that I hate them, pls pass it along, and we can discuss it.

What I want to see is European culture and values continue regardless of the shade of the people. Europe's problem is that it is being invaded by millions of mostly single, young Muslim men who have no intention of assimilating, and in many cases, want to harm the native population that has offered them refuge.

This. I told you that it is false and derogative. I gave you evidences that it is false. There is no evidence that Europe's border policy is an « insane open doors policy ». There is no evidence that European civilization is on the way of death. You imagine that. You hope that. You hate us. Why?

What universe are you living in? Have you not been reading about the terror attacks in places like Paris, Nice, Berlin, Stockholm, Brussels, London, ad nauseum? The rapes in Sweden? Get your head out of the sand.

I think I have humored you long enough.
