Too fragile

It is truly amazing what passes for academic scholarship these days. An example is the latest academic craze: the study of whiteness and all the "privilege" that  it entails. College Reform has a piece today on University of Washington Professor of Something or Other Robin DiAngelo, who gives presentations on white fragility!

Her theory based on years of talking to her friends is that white people.....Hell, you read it. Maybe you can make sense out of it. You can also read her own bio, which, if you want my two cents worth, strikes me as a lot of braggadocio.

"Notably, DiAngelo is herself white, and says that her theory came from years of experiencing her peers’ inability to confront or talk about racism."

Right. And my theories come from years of drinking beer and shooting the breeze in bars with my peers. Sheeez!

Thinking further, I have found the missing lynx in DiAngelo's theory. It just may be that white people have become burned out on the subject of race after being told millions of times that they are irredeemably racist and responsible for every failure of every individual member of every minority group. I mean who wants to get in another discussion about that?

I read this stuff and it makes me want to smash my computer. (White fragility, I guess.)

First, one must remember that Seattle is an ultra-Progressive city. DiAngelo is part of the Ultra-Progressive city Arts program connected to their Civil Rights division of the city government, which is heavily funded in millions. The Arts program professes that they promote racial and social justice in the arts. So, this white fragility garbage is birthed from the Progressive/Neo-Marxist ideological thought process of these light weight, pseudo academicians.

Seattle is an ultra-progressive city... where the working class can't afford to live. "To the barricades!" (Where is the "Rent Is Too Damn High" party when you need it?)
