It's Confirmed: Orange County DA Investigating UC Irvine Disruption

"Now, however, the case has been passed along by a third party to the Orange County District Attorney’s office for further investigation into whether any criminal behavior occurred during the SJP protest, DA spokesperson Roxi Fyad confirmed with Campus Reform."

This week, we reported the possibility that the Orange County District Attorney is investigating the May 18 incident in which Students for Justice in Palestine and other groups disrupted a Jewish student event at UC Irvine. The blog, Campus Reform has received confirmation of that from the DA's office.

This is welcome news. Without commenting on whether laws were broken, an investigation is warranted. I also hope they will identify the persons from the National Lawyers Guild attached to the UCI Law School who took part in the incident. I expect that UCI Law School Dean Erwin Chemerinsky will cooperate fully.
