New University (UCI Campus Paper) Says National Lawyers Guild/UCI Law School Participated in UCI Disruption

"However, two legal observers from UCI Law School’s National Lawyers Guild, whom SJP had invited to “ensure that [their] right to free speech is not infringed,” ensured them that they had permission to enter such an event, as it was  open to the public. One of the legal observers added that protesters complied with all UCIPD instructions and were not disruptive."

The New University, the campus paper of UC Irvine, is  running an article that states that the National Lawyers Guild (which was founded in the 1930s as a legal arm of the Communist Party USA) took part in the UCI disruption Wednesday night of a  Jewish event. Reportedly "lawyers" from the NLG were present and telling people that protesters had a right to enter the event. Not only that, New University states that the NLG people were also affiliated with the UCI law school.

I should note that the Los Angeles director of the NLG, James Lafferty, has  spoken at least twice at UCI on behalf of the Muslim Student Union against the state of Israel. In addition, Erwin Chemerinsky, the dean of the UCI Law School, was insisting before he ever came to UCI (and since) that there is no anti-Semitism at UCI. Chemerinsky also represented the family of International Solidarity Movement volunteer, Rachel Corrie, who was killed by a bulldozer as she attempted to block it from demolishing a home used to dig terrorist tunnels into Israel. Their suit was against the Caterpillar bulldozer company.

I think a statement from Dean Chemerinsky would be appropriate in response to the New University article.

I agree, that Chemerinsky should respond to the "guidance" given that evening to facilitate the UCI disruption. This guidance sounds like, in my opinion, intimidation to get maximum disruption at the SSI film review. Chemerinsky also needs to explain why a chapter of the communist National Lawyers Guild is attached to the UCI Law School, lead by him. Additionally, I would like to hear from the OC Register about how they can sponsor a columnist who covers for a Communist group.
Last, this protest sounds more like a planned disruption, similar to the Oren event. How was the National Lawyers Guild so ready that evening to lead "guidance".

Great questions. This will be followed up on.

Hopefully, one of your readers may want to write to the OC Register and ask about their reasoning for using such a verulant supporter of a defender of radical disrupters, such the Occupy everything destructive protestors. Remember the Occupy L.A. Group in downtown, who participate in public dedication, sex, destruction of property and illegal drug use. George Soros donates to the Occupy demonstrators as he does to the National Lawyers Guild. The Guild is notorious with Lawfare, as they sued L.A. For finally breaking up the months long protest. They also got be money from New York and the city of Oakland for so called police mishandling of protesters. They got millions for these actions, supporting civil disobedience, in my opinion. Are these great references for Chemerinsky? If the OC Register wants a good liberal professor of law, they should go for someone like Allan Dershowitz, again in my opinion.

Yes, and Jim Lafferty of the NLG was running the Occupy sit-ins in LA. It's all one big vicious circle.
