The Susquehanna Tin Men (That Has a Nice Ring)

Crusader moniker is out. Too Offensive

In November we reported on the change of mascot on-going at Susquehanna College. They have decided that the name, "Crusaders", was offensive to some (Muslims). Here is the latest update. (They apparently have a couple of possible replacement names.)

Well, yeah, a Muslim student would have a hard time rooting for the "Crusaders."

Could you root for a team called the "UCI Jidhadis"?

Historically, different contexts of course, but emotionally, about the same.

One can be a crusader for a lot of things-justice, perhaps?

The term has a root Gary. Its not ancient Latin that happened to be appropriated for a military expedition circa 1140.
