Sean Penn and Chapo Guzman: It Stinks

As a retired DEA agent, I have two words to describe what I think of Sean Penn's meeting and interview in Mexico with fugitive drug lord Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman.

It stinks.

Penn may or may not have broken any laws in Mexico or the US by meeting with the man Mexican and American authorities were looking for, but it further adds to my impression of him as a jerk. It was totally immoral and unethical. What was Penn looking for-a scoop? Guzman is a man responsible for hundreds of deaths and untold misery on both sides of the border. Probably aware that his days were numbered, Guzman was obviously looking for personal glory-maybe a movie about his life. And Sean Penn, the great friend of Hugo Chavez, was ready to oblige for his own personal glory.

Unless there is something to this we don't know, such as Penn reporting Guzman's whereabouts to the police, I view this as disgusting.
