Obama to Speak at Baltimore Mosque With Bad History

Hat tip Breitbart and Squid

Nothing much good has been coming out of Baltimore lately, you know, Freddy Gray, riots, politically-motivated prosecutions, Martin O'Malley, and the Ravens. Now we learn that President Obama is going to grace the local mosque, where a previous imam once justified suicide bombings.

“For a number of years we’ve been encouraging the president to go to an American mosque,” said CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper. “With the tremendous rise in anti-Muslim sentiment in our country, we believe that it will send a message of inclusion and mutual respect.”

I would like to encourage the president to go to a Christian church in Egypt (if they haven't all been burned down by now.) Mr Hooper talks of mutual respect, but it seems he hasn't learned the meaning of the word, mutual. (Must be his Canadian English.)

I do not know if it is a good idea to have Obama go back to Egypt. the last time he was there, he spoke at the al Azar University and said Americans were derisive, dismissive and arrogant. Later on, he claimed that America's early development and greatness was due to influential Muslims. Somehow I missed this early developmental influence in my American history classes.
AS for the CAIR claim of "With the tremendous rise in anti-Muslim sentiment in our country", this is pure BS, as the FBI statistics will show that Muslim hate crime is far below that of Jews and Blacks and others in this country. Last, it would be nice if Obama would go to church on Sunday, as he spends an undo amount of Sundays on the golf course (1/300).

Squid,

You are right. Every time Obama or John Kerry go overseas, they do damage.

As for anti-Muslim sentiment in this country, it is real, but what is not real is the idea of all these supposed hate crimes against Muslims. Americans are acting with remarkable restraint in not lashing out against innocent people (Muslims). According to the FBI reports, if my memory is correct, among religious hate crimes in the last year counted, anti-Muslim incidents accounted for 16% while anti-Jewish incidents accounted for 58%. And where does this anti-Semitism come from? Any stats gathered are probably buried deep in the bowels of some govt agency, but if you go by what happens on campuses (the focal point for anti-Semitism in the US) it comes from pro-palestinian activists, most of whom just happen to be Muslims.

America's "first Muslim president" who wasn't even born here hasn't been to a mosque in seven years? Gosh, who knew?
