Do the Palestinians Really Want Peace?

Hat tip Investigative Project on Terrorism

This morning I posted a report on last night's speaking appearance by Galia Golan on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Ms. Golan repeatedly told us that the PLO, Palestinian people accept Israel's right to exist and want peace. The below report from the Investigative Project on Terrorism brings us up to date on the recent violence in that region,. It is a report that calls Ms Golan's claims into question.

"We will kill you here, Oh Zionists. We are awaiting you. If you come back, we will come back," reads the Fatah statement in both Hebrew and Arabic, according to an Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) translation."

"This past week, Fatah and Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) officials openly justified and called for more attacks against Jews."

But according to Ms Golan, the PLO accepts Israel's right to exist within defensible borders. She said that the chants of the pro-Palestinian supporters in the US, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," (as quoted by me in my question to her) don't represent the PLO or the Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Something doesn't jive here.

@ Shlomo,

I read the article that you posted. There is an interesting phrase that the author makes interesting points about the Palestinians and their tactics against Israel. The Middle East countries have the wealth and the resources to support the Palestinians and pull them up from the hovel they continue maintain, showing the world how bad off they are. This is on purpose to get the Liberal Leftists to feel sorry for them. This tactic works, to a certain degree in the West, as the U.N. policies will demonstrate.
It is Islam doctrine that perpetuates the hatred toward Jews, as it is written that they are less than human and need to be exterminated in order to return Islam to its greatness, according to doctrine. Islamists want Israel to disappear and become Palestine, without Jews present.

Its pretty simple really. The PLO wants the whole territory of the British Mandate of Palestine, but they can't have it, so they are prepared to negotiate for what they can get, but also willing for the political factions within the PLO to demand much more until such time as a peace deal is sealed. It also gives them more street cred, which they need to keep if they are going to be in a position to negotiate anything. Politics -- nothing new under the sun.

Squid, you don't know beans about Islam and Jews, certainly no comprehensive history, or you wouldn't make the foolish statement about Islamic doctrine. The Fatamids, the Almohades, and the mid-20th century religious leaders in the middle east, all accord with your statement. Other centuries, caliphates (including the Abassids, Umayyads, and rashidun caliphs, as well as the later period of the Ottoman empire when Jews held high positions including admiral, you don't even come close.
