Finally! Finally, we have a politician in Washington who has asked the obvious question. Why are we blindly allowing people to come to the US from Muslim countries in the face of all this terror directed at us? Rand Paul (R-KY) plans to examine this issue in the Senate.

I don't agree with all of Paul's positions, and I don't like his dad a bit. However, I will have to take a closer look at this candidate if he really means to do something about this.

I like Ron, voted for him in the primaries once, but Rand is a bit ditzy. Ron, I must say, would throw the U.S. into deep depression if he ever got a chance to put us on the gold standard, and all those people with Ron Paul signs out would lose their homes and farms. But, he asks some important questions.

Rand is wrong on this one. We need to filter out terrorists, without stopping legitimate refugees en masse. If they weren't coming from a place where people are being terrorized, they wouldn't need to come here at all.

And remember, much as you hate to be reminded, much as you try to rationalize it away, this is exactly the paradigm the State Department applied to turn away Jewish immigration during the late 1930s: they were coming from a state likely to be our enemy soon, and some agents, terrorists, provocateurs, would be infiltrated with them. We just couldn't take that chance.
