Islamic Shura Council Statement on Gay Marriage and Homosexuality

Hat tip Steve

In the below link, the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California issues its statement on same-sex marriage and homosexuality in the wake of the Supreme Court decision in favor of gay marriage. Imam Muzammil Siddiqi is the head of the Shura Council and head imam at the Islamic Center of Orange County. I think it speaks for itself though there is one glaring omission.

The glaring omission is that under sharia law (hudud), the punishment for homosexual acts is death.

First Gary lectures Jews on how to be good Jews.

Now he's lecturing a Muslim organization on what the requirements of Islam are.

The follow-up: Choudary will issue a fatwah telling Gary Fouse what the tenets of Protestant Christianity require of him.

Siarlys,

I am not lecturing any Muslim organization. I am informing the reader of a fact that the statement left out.

Fact? You are picking the strand of Muslim thought most conducive to your characterization, knowing full well that a large portion of Muslim scholarship says no such thing. Mohammed, like Jesus, was silent on the subject, which means neither approval nor specific condemnation.

I can tell from the URL that this is an objective, dispassionate, universally trusted source that has no ax to grind.
