Body Cams and Stop Watches?

Erwin Chemerinsky

Today, as happens every Thursday at the Orange County Register, UC Irvine Law School Dean, Erwin Chemerinsky appears on the op-ed page with another liberal legal opinion. Here is today's episode of Thursdays with Erwin. Here we learn that body cameras for cops are only the beginning. Now, seemingly,  cops are going to have to start wearing stop watches on their uniforms.

And quoting Ruth Bader Ginsburg, no less.

(Is she still alive?)

I would like to suggest that cops be required to start carrying an ordinary kitchen timer as part of their equipment/gear, which they would set for the appropriate number of minutes, whatever that would be (10?? 15?? Obviously and certainly less than 28), when they stop someone for a traffic violation.

Then, when the thing dings before they are through, they will just have to let the driver go with no ticket, warning or otherwise. Makes sense to me.

Depends on which costs the taxpayers more-the stop watch or the kitchen timer.

Maybe both, with one as a back-up to the other?? Double cost.
