Bruins Against BDS Letter to UCLA Student Government

From Pro-Israel bay Bloggers

Below is a letter of thanks from (UCLA) Bruins Against BDS Thanking the UCLA Student Council members who voted against the Boycott resolution targeting Israel this week.

https://www.facebook.com/StopBDSatUCLA/posts/692044370818445

"With sincere gratitude to the seven council members who voted against the Divestment resolution,

We’d like to thank you for hearing and considering all sides of the issue presented to you and fairly representing our voice on this campus for 9 hours at the USAC meeting on Tuesday, February 25th. We understand that this was not an easy decision for many of you. In no way do we claim the results of the vote as a victory. It is deeply saddening that all sides are left feeling extremely hurt by the hateful comments that were said during public comment. It is truly disappointing to see a campus so divided.

For this reason, we feel that your priorities are in the right place. You were elected to be a leader to effect tangible changes on our campus, not to bring divisive symbolic resolutions about global issues. This is a resolution that never should have been brought to the council table in the first place, as it failed to involve students who would be affected by the resolution in the creation process. Thank you for remaining consistent with your convictions stated in response to the resolution brought forth earlier this year. Many council members emphasized the importance of all voices being heard and represented, and you should be proud to have applied this standard equally to all student groups.

Please be confident that you stand on the right side of history with your decision. As proven unequivocally last night, the divestment resolution, if passed, would have been construed as a victory for the larger Boycott Divestment Sanctions movement which calls to demonize and delegitimize Israel, the only Jewish state in the world. This would violate the rights of Israelis to security and self determination. As such, it was viewed by much of the Jewish community as anti-Semitic and made students feel marginalized and unsafe on our campus.

Let us be clear in that we are in no way accusing the individuals in the room last night of being anti-Semitic. In fact, we believe that they too are fighting for a cause which they hold in their hearts to be true and just. To see a campus of intelligent, passionate people divided because of their convictions was truly unfortunate. This is exactly why this resolution had no place the Council table. Clearly, this resolution was not the answer to starting a healthy conversation or moving towards peace, but rather created widening schisms between individuals and communities. Ackerman Grand Ballroom was not a safe space for our students. In addition, we are disgusted to see the cyber bullying taking place towards human beings on either side of the conflict and we are so sorry that this hate may be something you and even the supporting Council members are dealing with; it is absolutely unacceptable.

We respect not only the result of the vote but also the way in which you conducted yourselves as honest, thoughtful representatives of the entire student body. We could not be more proud to stand by you all as our elected leaders."

5th Annual Crybaby Conference at Berkeley ("Islamophobia")

                                                               "Step right up, Folks"

It's coming, Folks. UC Berkeley's Hatem Bazian's 5th annual Islamophobia conference will take place for 5 days in April at UC Berkeley (Where else?)

http://www.islamophobiacon.com/

"The focus of the conference will be Islamophobia: a contrived fear or prejudice fomented by the existing Eurocentric and Orientalist global power structure which rationalizes the necessity to deploy violence as a tool to achieve "civilizational rehab" of the target communities (Muslim or otherwise). The concept of Islamophobia reintroduces and reaffirms a global racial structure through which resource distribution disparities are maintained and extended."

This is a classic exercise in victimhood, complete with "call for papers" and all that scholarly rot. Last year, I submitted a few suggestions for topics, but they were ignored.

"The conference will also highlight genres of scholarly and artistic production over the period of a week that explore the maintenance and extension of existing power paradigms by bringing together academics, thinkers, practitioners, researchers and artists from around the globe who engage, question and challenge the existing disparities in economic, political, social and cultural relations."

Hopefully, one of these years, these scholars will figure out that a phobia is an irrational fear of something. Then they can sit around and discuss all those irrational fears of terrorism; persecution of non-Muslim minorities in Muslim majority countries (e.g. Copts in Egypt), Nigerian massacres, beheadings, sexual grooming in the UK, hateful texts, anti-Semitic and anti-Christian hate speech, boasts of taking over the West and the world, mass public prayers on public streets, the killing of Lee Rigby, Boston Marathon bombing, honor killings, Sharia laws that mandate death for gays, adulterers, blasphemers, and apostates, human rights violations galore, and finally, general all-around murder and mayhem all over the Muslim world. Have I left anything out?

All those irrational fears that so preoccupy Islamophobes.

If they really wanted a serious conference, they might invite some real moderate Muslims like Zuhdi Jasser or Stephen Schwartz. They could invite some of their imagined "Islamophobes" like Robert Spencer to speak truth to them and engage in debate. Those voices will not be heard, however. The result will be propaganda and lies that do nothing to bring about peaceful relations between Muslims and non-Muslims. They will simply deny the problem and blame it all on the "Islamophobes"-the people who report inconvenient facts that are staring us in the face. The result will be further marginalization of America's Muslim community. It would be akin to Germans holding a Germanophobia conference in occupied Paris during World War II.

This is what passes for scholarship at Berkeley.

Child Sexual Grooming in UK

Hat  tip Vlad Tepes

In the below video Gavin Boby is interviewed by Sun News about the widespread practice of child sexual grooming in the UK. (Yes, it is widespread. There have been numerous prosecutions across the UK and an estimated 10,000 victims.) It involves organized gangs of men who prey on young white British girls, forcing them into prostitution. In 91% of the cases, the perpetrators are Muslim men. The below video is shocking. Sorry, Folks, but these are facts. Argue with them  if you will.

And why is it that 75% of the mosques asked to issue a condemnation of the practice from the pulpit refused?

Dividing Races 101 at Univ of Wisconsin at Whitewater

Hat tip Campus Reform

That was the crux of SEIU union guy Eyon Biddle's guest lecture at UW Whitewater as he explained to the class about "white rage" in supporting Wisconsin governor Scott Walker. A student taped Biddle's words.

http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=5458

This, Dear Reader, is part and parcel of what is going on in our university humanities departments. It is a conscious effort to divide students by race; "people of color" (and gays) aligned against "privileged whites". It's all there; whites, the Republicans, the Koch Brothers, you name it. Imagine indoctrinating college students into that mindset and seeing them graduate and take this type of attitude into society.

BDS at University of Windsor (Ontario, Canada)

Hat tip Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers and Urbanite News

The Boycott, Divest and Sanctions movement against Israel on North American college campuses continues to be ugly and intimidating.

At the University of Windsor in Canada, an office was broken into and a "support our Troops" poster was defaced with an anti-Semitic scrawl.

http://urbanitenews.com/2014/02/27/student-referendum-brings-crime-and-intimidation-to-uwindsor/

Those who use such intimdation tactics against supporters of Israel need to be removed from campuses.

Hillary Did What During Watergate?

Hid records? Lied?

That's according to what her former boss from the Watergate hearings, Jerry Zeifman, said according to several accounts. Many have forgotten-or never knew- that Hillary was part of the team that was trying to impeach Richard Nixon over Watergate. According to varying reports, her boss, Jerry Ziefman, either fired her for her dishonesty and shenanigans or decided he could not recommend her for future employment. Thus, I have linked several  reports on the controversy.

http://downtrend.com/robertgehl/while-on-watergate-committee-hillary-was-fired-for-lying-unethical-behavior/

“Hillary then removed all the Douglas files to the offices where she was located, which at that time was secured and inaccessible to the public,” Zeifman said. Hillary then proceeded to write a legal brief arguing there was no precedent for the right to representation by counsel during an impeachment proceeding – as if the Douglas case had never occurred."

You mean like those Rose Law Firm billing records?

Arizona Senate Bill 1062

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has now vetoed Arizona Senate Bill 1062.  The case behind the bill was an Arizona cake shop that refused to make a wedding cake for a gay wedding due to the owner's religious (Christian) objection to same-sex marriage. Here is the text of that bill:

http://www.azcentral.com/ic/pdf/SB-1062-bill.pdf

Of course had the owner of the cake shop made the excuse that he couldn't fit it into his schedule or some other reason, we wouldn't be discussing this case in the first place. Instead he chose to stand on his religious principles and here we are. The case became a cause celebe, and the NFL would have probably taken next year's Superbowl away from Arizona had Brewer signed the bill. Can anyone doubt that Eric Holder's Justice Department would have been far behind bringing a suit against Arizona?

Just for the sake of argument, what if a Muslim had refused to provide service to someone that would have offended his or her Islamic beliefs? Well, we already have such incidents going on, such as Muslim grocery store clerks who refuse to check out customers buying pork, or Muslim cabbies who refuse to carry passengers with alcohol or blind passengers with seeing eye dogs. Same thing? What's good for the goose is good for the gander, right? A tip of the hat goes to none other than Rush Limbaugh for digging this "musty" old case out of the EEOC archives (2013).

http://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/newsroom/release/5-29-13.cfm

Could the gay couple have gone to a different cake shop? I'm sure they eventually did anyway. Or did this one shop's refusal mean that they were deprived of their constitutional right to a wedding cake?

UCLA Rejects Divestment

Hat tip Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers and Breitbart.com

Following the example of UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara, the UCLA student government pissed away 9 hours of time and debate that could have been spent on more useful items impacting students before rejecting yet another resolution to boycott, divest and sanction companies that do business with Israel. Had the resolution passed, it would have been ignored by the university anyway.  Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers has a report and a video showing the overwrought reaction of one of the BDS supporters.

http://proisraelbaybloggers.blogspot.com/2014/02/ucla-rejects-divestment.html

Here is the Daily Bruin report:

Just think: The student government devotes 9 hours debating this issue that has nothing to do with student life at UCLA. Is this what our tax-payer dollars are going to fund at UCLA and other campuses?

(The answer is yes.)

Senators Boxer and Whitehouse Seek More Delays in Keystone Pipeline. Cancer Study Needed, They Say

Hat tip Hot Air

One would have thought that after the State Department issued a report saying the proposed Keystone Pipeline would not harm the environment and after they cleared the vetting and contract process, we could finally start on this common sense project that would provide thousands of jobs and supply us with oil from Canada instead of having to buy it from places like Saudi Arabia, right?

Think again. Senators Barbara Boxer of California and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, neither of whose state would be affected, are now calling for a study on the possibility that the pipeline might cause cancer!

http://hotair.com/archives/2014/02/26/boxer-whitehouse-you-know-what-this-keystone-xl-review-really-needs-a-cancer-study/

In the interest of full disclosure, when I was working with DEA in Bangkok from 1975-1978, the US ambassador was Charles Whitehouse, Sheldon's father. I had a chance to meet him a couple of times briefly during official functions at the embassy. He was a fine gentleman. I would have thought he would have raised Sheldon better. As for Boxer, well, never mind.

Anti-Israel Conference At NYU

Below is a statement released by the AMCHA Initiative regarding the upcoming conference at
NYU (above) devoted to delegitimizing Israel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AMCHA INITIATIVE OUTRAGED OVER “SECRET” ANTI-ISRAEL CONFERENCE AT NYU

Santa Cruz, CA, February 26, 2014 – AMCHA Initiative cofounders, Tammi
Rossman-Benjamin and Leila Beckwith, released the following statement
today about the upcoming anti-Israel, pro-boycott conference at New
York University (NYU):

“Far from the “academic conference” it was touted to be, “Circuits of
Influence” will be nothing more than a platform for 21 anti-Israel
activists to spew their hatred of the Jewish state and promote a
boycott intended to hasten its elimination. All of the conference’s
participants are anti-Israel, pro-boycott activists and the schedule
is a compilation of workshops on how to boycott Israel, given by
representatives of virulently anti-Zionists. No wonder Professor
Duggan wants to hide this event from public scrutiny. It is an
unscholarly, antisemitic, politically-motivated and directed
conference.”

“Wrapping themselves in the mantle of “academic freedom,” the
organizing professors are abusing their scholarly privilege and
brazenly using their academic credentials and university funding to
advance their purely activist agenda. University administrators must
not allow these anti-Israel activist professors like Duggan to exploit
NYU’s resources and reputation and hijack NYU to advance their
antisemitic agenda.”

The event is being organized by NYU professor Lisa Duggan, an anti-
Israel activist who has repeatedly promoted academic, cultural and
economic boycotts of Israel and is the President-elect of the American
Studies Association, a group that recently voted to boycott Israel.
The conference is closed to the press and public. In fact, Duggan
wrote on Facebook, “PLEASE DO NOT post or circulate the flyer. We are
trying to avoid press, protestors and public attention.”

AMCHA Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to
investigating, documenting, educating about, and combating
antisemitism at institutions of higher education in America. AMCHA
Initiative's efforts are bolstered by a network of more than 5,000
members and supporters of the Jewish community -- including university
alumni, parents and grandparents, rabbis, religious school principals
and synagogue members -- who have joined together to speak in one
voice to ensure the safety and well-being of Jewish students on
college and university campuses across the country.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not for nothin', but should not universities, who proudly proclaim that they expose students to all sides of
issues, be putting on events that examine all side of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, with differing voices,
debates, and free exchange of ideas?
Silly me.
Instead, what we get at universities are events like these with 21 speakers all of a like
mind, all providing only side of a most complex issue. Result? One big echo chamber. It's kind of like
MSNBC, you know?

As I say all the time, this is not education; what this is is indoctrination.

The Nightmare in Nigeria Continues

This week, the Islamist terror group Boko Haram carried out its latest massacre, this time in a raid on a village in northeastern Nigeria. Approximately 40 children were killed by having their throats slashed as they slept and burned.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/25/boko-haram-islamists-nigeria-killing-sleeping-children

Shocked? Outraged?  Yet, you will not see one demonstration on any college campus about this. Who are you going to boycott? Who are you going to sanction? From whom are you going to divest?

London Sentences: Life and 45 Years

Michael Adebolajo

Update: Here are the sentences handed down to the two animals who murdered British soldier Lee Rigby.

Michael Adebolajo -Life with no parole
Michael Adebowale- At least 45 years

The two defendants shouted, "Allahu Akbar" and had to be dragged away from the court. The family of Lee Rigby expressed satisfaction at the sentences.

Relatives of murdered fusilier Lee Rigby, (L-R) his stepfather Ian Rigby, his mother Lyn Rigby, his sisters Sara McClure and Chelsea Rigby, arrive at the Old Bailey

Britain now awaits the next atrocity.

Judgement Day for the Killers of Lee Rigby

The savages who murdered British soldier Lee Rigby are about to be sentenced in London. The Daily Mail has an extensive article.

 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2568317/Justice-Lee-Rigby-Soldiers-family-arrive-court-wearing-matching-t-shirts-act-solidarity-ahead-sentencing-two-Muslim-converts-murdered-him.html

"In December the two fanatics were found guilty of butchering the father-of-one but their sentencing was delayed until today after Strasbourg judges said that whole-life tariffs are unlawful.

But last week senior British judges defied the European Court of Human Rights ruling, leaving Judge Justice Sweeney free to decide whether Adebolajo and Adebowlale should die behind bars."

In the face of this atrocity, the European Court of Human Rights at Strasbourg has the effrontery to make a ruling that life sentences are "unlawful". How this affects the London sentencing we shall see. Unfortunately Britain did away with its death penalty decades ago.

What is Behind the Israel Apartheid Weeks?

Hat tip JJ and Miggie

As March approaches, we can expect another wave of organized Israel-Apartheid weeks being held in Europe and North America-largely on university campuses. Once again, the pro-Palestinian forces will  erect mock apartheid walls, bring in radical speakers, wave Palestinian flags, and accuse Israel of apartheid and genocide against the  benighted Palestinian people, who in spite of the supposed genocide have seen their population numbers explode. Indeed, the Arabs who have deigned to call themselves Palestinians have increased in numbers (through high birth rates) since the creation of Israel. Where is the genocide? Where are the death camps? As for the charges of apartheid, anyone familiar with the apartheid system of South Africa can readily list the differences. In this 5-minute video published by Prager University, South African Parliament Member Kennith Meshoe explains the differences.

But anyone who studies or works on a university campus might ask him or herself why this issue, this conflict, has assumed so large a role on campus. It is because a well-organized worldwide Palestinian lobby has made it so. We  are not talking about a few Arab students standing on a soap box at some corner of a university yelling at uninterested  students who pass by. We are talking about university recognized student groups who have the ability to rent space and bring in invited speakers largely using university funds (from tuition fees) made available to such groups. We can begin with the various chapters of the Muslim Student Association (a creation, by the way of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt) and their sister organization, Students for Justice in Palestine. They are the ones who host the annual hate fests that come to so many campuses each year devoted to de-legitimizing the Jewish state.

Then you have the various university student governments who devote so much time and energy to repeated efforts to pass resolutions urging the university to boycott, sanction and divest from companies that do business with Israel. The University of California campuses have been especially active lately. One such resolution was narrowly voted down last week at UC Riverside after 4 hours of debate. (The universities uniformly issue statements rejecting such measures if they pass.) So  how is it that student governments allow themselves to get tied up with this issue when their efforts, time and resources could be better spent on other issues affecting the student body? It is because anti-Israel activists are getting themselves elected to student government positions and dominating said student governments.

Then there is the faculty, largely in the humanities, stuffed with left-wing radicals all too willing to use the issue as part of their bash America agenda. Burgeoning Middle East studies departments, funded by Saudi Arabia, are staffed with pan-Arab, anti-Israeli professors dedicated  to indoctrinating their students against Israel and the West.

Thus, what you have is the perfect marriage of convenience between the pro-Palestinians, Islamist forces, and the left.

But what is especially troubling is that the ultimate root cause of the Israel-Arab conflict is infecting our own campuses and our societies in the West. It is anti-Semitism-or if you prefer, pure Jew-hatred, plain and simple. At its source, the Arab world in the Middle East will never accept the idea of a Jewish state in its midst. The Palestinians are mere pawns. In the West, they have large armies of activists to do their bidding.

Of course, here in the US, it would be bad tactics to scream anti-Semitic insults on college campuses-though some speakers actually have (Amir Abdel Malik Ali, Alim Musa, Mohammed al Asi). For the most part, the speakers who come to campus will  insist that they are merely anti-Zionist-not anti-Jew. Indeed, the clever pro-Palestinian organizations on campuses have succeeded in bringing in a ready stable of Jewish activists who fervently hate Israel. From left-wing professors like (ex-professor) Norman Finkelstein and Judith Butler, to anarchist Israelis like Matan Cohen, to Neturei Karta rabbi Ysroel Dovid Cohen, to the Jewish Voice for Peace, these useful  pawns are all too ready to travel the university lecture circuit and denounce the Jewish state on behalf of forces that want to drive every last Jew from the Middle East.

Sadly, in the process of all this activity in the past several  years, our country has witnessed a revival of anti-Semitism, the oldest hatred in the history of our planet. It is just the most recent form of Jew hatred. From charges of killing Christ to the Blood Libel to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, to  being nationless, mercenary cheats, to being non-Aryan race defilers, to dominating Wall Street, Hollywood and the banks, it is the evil Zionist Israelis and their Jewish coreligionists in the West that are now the problem.  The modern anti-Semitism (or is it post-modern?) is now incorporating some of the old canards to gather public opinion against Israeli and Jews in general. Even the Blood Libel has been revived.

And the focal point for this resurgence in the US is on our university campuses.

Posted on "Apartheid Wall" at UC Irvine in May 2008 and personally witnessed by this writer

If you thought that  today's anti-Semitism in the West was something that was re-hatched by some neo-Nazi dropout types at punk rock concerts, think again. A recent study in Germany turned up some interesting results.

This is what our children are being exposed to when we send them off to college. These are the future leaders of our country, and their minds are being poisoned by rhetoric that often degenerates into out and out hate speech. Mix this up and throw it in with all the leftist race-conscious rhetoric that already predominates on our campuses, where "victimized and oppressed people of color" are aligned against "privileged whites", and what you have is a dangerous cocktail with the potential to explode some day in deadly violence on a US university campus.

But make no mistake: No matter how loud or how gentle the speakers words at these Israel Apartheid events; no matter whether the speaker is Arab, Jew or other; no matter how much the speaker sprinkles his/her words with phrases like "human rights", "justice", or "peace". It all boils down to one thing: For them, there is no room for Jews in the Middle East. And that is anti-Semitism or Jew-hatred, whichever you choose to call it.

UCI Graduation: Five Hours of Pomp and Circumstance?

We don't know at this point whether President Obama will accept the invitation from UC Irvine to speak at the 2014 commencement, but some UCI students are already unhappy at plans to hold the commencement at Angel Stadium and consolidate all the departments and schools into one big (and long ) ceremony.

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/uci-603092-students-obama.html

“We understand that students and their families may have already made plans that are upset by this change and we are working to minimize those impacts and make this a memorable and family-friendly event,” Lawhon said.

If it lasts 5 hours, it will surely be memorable. I mean who can sit through a 5-hour rendition of Pomp and Circumstance? Surely not Obama.

"We can take off for California now, Mr President. They've started playing Pomp and Circumstance."

The Question of Open Tent Within Hillel

Hat tip JJ

Asaf Romirowsky of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East has written a piece in the Jerusalem Post concerning the internal battle within Hillel as to how open they wish to be when it comes to  those Jews who do not support Israel. It is a real issue on college campuses where Israel is under constant attack from groups like Students for Justice in Palestine, Muslim Students Associations, left-wing faculty and others. Sadly, the above groups have Jewish allies like Jewish Voice for Peace and J Street (though the latter insists it is pro-Israel).

http://www.jpost.com/LandedPages/PrintArticle.aspx?id=342238

As diverse and fragmented as the American Jewish community is, nobody could expect every Jewish college student to be pro-Israel and not all are. That is fine. Yet, it has to be pointed out here that not only does Israel face an existential  threat, but Jews worldwide do as well,. not just those in Israel. European Jews, for example, are getting out in droves.

Far be it for this Gentile to lecture Hillel on this issue though I agree wholeheartedly with Romirowsky. It is an internal matter for them to decide within their own chapters. But when certain Hillel leaders advise community members not to come to campus for public events in which Israel, and sometimes America and Jews as people are vilified, and oppose those voices (peacefully, of course) then they become part of the problem. But that is a subject for a separate article.

Islamophobia in the UK: Who is to Blame? A British Muslim Nails the Answer

Hat tip Gatestone Institute

Mudar Zahran, A Jordanian Muslim living in the UK, asks the question: Who is to blame for Islamophobia in the UK? He also answers his own question: "It is our own fault", says he. Read on.

"If you look at the London Tube Bombing of 7/7; the Madrid Train Bombing; two attacks on the World Trade Center; the murders of Lee Rigby, Theo Van Gogh, Daniel Pearl, Nick Berg, Ilan Halimi, and countless other attack and threats, how can we honestly expect people not to be "Islamophobic"? It would appear we have no one to blame but ourselves.

If we Muslims are actually opposed to these Islamist hate preachers, why are we failing to take a unanimous public stance against them, to disown and isolate them from our community?"

"A phobia, by definition, is an irrational fear: a fear of something that is not real -- such as being afraid that there are snakes in the next room."

Thank you, Mr Zahran.

Does this gentleman not put it in perfect perspective? You may be the most decent, peace-loving, pluralistic Muslim  in the world, but if you are not speaking out like Mr Zahran, you are irrelevant. If you are silent and yet complaining about Islamophobia in the face of all the horrors going on around the world and in this case in the UK with Anjem Choudary and his gang of thugs, then I have no sympathy for you. My sympathy goes to the man who wrote this piece.

CAIR Bullying Tactics Fail in Virginia

Hat tip Creeping Sharia

Culpeper County (Va) Sheriff Scott Jenkins has turned down a demand from CAIR that he cancel a three-day counter training seminar that features ex-FBI agent John Guandolo

http://www.roanoke.com/news/virginia/article_1791b400-9c3a-11e3-8be5-001a4bcf6878.html

"CAIR sent letters to the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice and the Rappahannock Regional Justice Academy on Friday afternoon asking that officers attending the seminar not be given the 40 hours of re-certification credits it now carries."

(Back in the 1990s, when I was an instructor at DEA's Office of Training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, I participated in a state and local drug police training course at the Rappahannock Training Academy.)

"The Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors extremist groups, has also called on Jenkins to cancel the seminars. It said Guandolo has claimed that CIA Director John Brennan is a secret Muslim agent for the Saudis."

Since it is mentioned in the newspaper article, I will go ahead and comment on this. There are rumors that Brennan converted to Islam while stationed in Saudi Arabia with the CIA some years ago. I don't know if it is true or not. Brennan, of course, could clear it up if anyone in the media would dare to ask him. He is entitled to follow whatever religion he wishes. If he were the type of Muslim that say, Zuhdi Jasser is, I would have no worries.  But is it relevant given the world situation? In my view, yes. As it is,  I don't have much regard for Brennan as CIA director no matter what his faith is.

At  any rate, I applaud Sheriff Jenkins for standing up to CAIR.

Let the Presbyterian Church USA Be Known by the Friends it Keeps

Hat tip Frontpage Magazine

Ryan Mauro writing in Frontpage Magazine points out that an anti-Zionist pamphlet put out by the Presbyterian Church USA has drawn  fulsome praise from none other than David Duke and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

http://www.frontpagemag.com/2014/ryan-mauro/iran-david-duke-salute-presbyterian-church-usa/

I should say that I have no ax to grind against those of the Presbyterian faith. I don't even know what sets Presbyterians off from Methodists or other Protestant denominations. But I say to you American Presbyterian readers that you need to do some serious checking into what the leadership of your church in this country is up to.

Unless, of course, you are anti-Jewish yourself.

Spare me the axiom that it is not anti-Semitic to be anti-Zionist. The sheer activism against Israel on the part of the Presbyterian Church USA is too obvious, too blatant to conclude other than that the leadership of this church is anti-Jewish.

Palestinian Survey: They Don't Like Us

Hat tip  Algemeiner

Americans take note: The Palestinians have taken a survey. Guess what. They dislike Americans more than anybody.

http://www.algemeiner.com/2014/02/24/pew-survey-palestinian-arabs-dislike-america-more-than-any-other-group/#comment-3839487

Hopefully, this survey will be given the widest possible dissemination here in the US. We should react accordingly. Unfortunately, too  many here at home will get all tied up in knots trying to figure out how we can overcome that. Should we send more foreign aid? Should we bring more of them to the US?  I hope not. Sooner or later, we need to seriously evaluate who are real friends are and who our enemies are.

What to do About Uganda?

We will be hearing more about the African nation of Uganda in the future than we ever thought we would-at least since they got rid of Idi Amin. That's because the Ugandan parliament has passed legislation making homosexuality a criminal offence punishable by life in prison. The country's president, Yoweri Museveni, an evangelical Christian in a country that is 84% Christian, has stated in signing the bill, that homosexuals "are disgusting". Thus, the news media is abuzz, and our government is rethinking our relationship with Uganda,  a nation that has been important in combating extremist forces in the region.

I  heartily concur that this is a shocking abuse of human rights, and the US would be correct to distance itself from any nation that would be so draconian in an area of personal freedom that we don't consider a crime to begin with. Foreign aid? That's a good place to start. Personally, I don't want our money going to any country with such practices.

At the same time, I would like to see our media and our government equally outspoken about the treatment of gays in other countries, such as Iran, where they are hanged. There are plenty of countries around the world where gays are severely persecuted. Uganda is a convenient target because they are predominantly Christian. If the US is  going to stand up for gays around the world, which we should, let us be uniform in our indignation.

Samantha Power's Outrageous Comments About Daniel Pearl

Hat tip The Blaze

Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power is just one of so many Obama appointees who come from the left. She has a long track record of questionable statements, so it is hardly surprising that she came out with a tweet putting the name Daniel Pearl in the same sentence with "cycle of violence" and "reconciliation".

Daniel Pearl was the Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped and beheaded by jihadists in Pakistan in 2002. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has proudly taken credit for the beheading.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/02/24/u-s-ambassador-samantha-power-facing-criticism-over-this-tweet/

So now Power explains that she was referring to the Daniel Pearl Foundation. I don't buy it. The questions must be asked: What cycle of violence was Daniel Pearl involved in? What cycle of violence was the WSJ involved in? None. What reconciliation is due with savages like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his ilk? None. Daniel Pearl was murdered by savage barbarians because he was an American and because he was Jewish. How dare Power make some sort of moral  equivalency between Daniel Pearl and the scum who murdered him in such gruesome fashion?

If Power had any class, she would resign. But  she won't.

Hussam Ayloush Accusing Israel of "Waging War" on Africans

Hussam Ayloush, the CEO of CAIR's Southern California region has tweeted his followers a hit piece video against Israel by David Sheen and Max Blumenthal. The video, which is running on the pro-Palestinian blog, Mondoweiss, accuses Israel of persecuting tens of thousands of sub Saharan Africans who have flooded into the country illegally. Using sinister background music and carefully selected clips of certain Israeli hotheads calling for deportation of the illegals or verbally attacking them, the video ignores the fact that the country is being flooded with illegals, much as is the case with European countries like Greece, Italy and Spain. It also conveniently ignores the fact that these migrants choose Israel as opposed to say, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, or other neighboring countries, where they know they would be dealt much more harshly and summarily.

The producers of the video, Sheen and Blumenthal, are both full-time Israel bashers. Sheen was born in Canada, immigrated to Israel, and this is how he repays his adopted country.

http://mondoweiss.net/2014/02/americans-waging-africans.html

This is nothing new for the two-faced Ayloush, a man who told an interviewer on camera at the CAIR convention in Anaheim last November that his organization does not get dragged into Middle Eastern affairs.

Not much.

As head of the LA chapter of the Syrian American Council, Ayloush actively campaigns and makes speeches urging US intervention in Syria on the side of the rebels. As head of CAIR's LA chapter, he often finds time to campaign against Israel. Like the time in 2002 this self-proclaimed human rights activist spoke at an anti-Israel protest in front of the Israeli consulate in LA as members of UCLA's Muslim Student Association were reportedly chanting, "Death to Israel. Death to Jews".

Make no mistake: Israel should deal with this problem in a humane manner, but I have much more faith in Israel to do so than I do her neighbors. As for the likes of Ayloush, I suspect he cares more about finding an excuse to demonize Israel for trying to maintain its sovereignty than he cares about the plight of the Africans.

Chloe Valdary Responds to Attack

Hat tip Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers and Times of Israel

Yesterday, I posted an article on Chloe Valdary, a University of New Orleans student who stands up for Israel and the vicious attack against her by a Seattle blogger named Richard Silverstein. In this piece, Chloe responds to Silverstein's attack.

Well stated, Chloe. As for Silverstein, ten of him wouldn't make one Chloe Valdary.

Anti-Jewish Conspiracy Theory From Hizbollah-Jews Invented Superman

Hat tip Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers and MEMRI TV.

The below video  comes to us courtesy of Schlomo Ben Hungstien (which I assume is a nom de plume),  a reader who sent it in to Pro-Israel  Bay Bloggers. It is a video produced by the brain surgeons of Hizbollah in Lebanon and subsequently translated by MEMRI TV. According to this piece of "scholarship", which includes commentary by some guy described as a  professor named Farrouhk Majidi, it was the Jews who created Hollywood and invented Superman. And to what purpose? To take over the world, naturally.

Here is more from the Times of Israel

http://www.timesofisrael.com/hezbollah-jews-invented-hollywood-to-take-over-the-world-as-we-want/

First of all, if Jews have made themselves prominent in Hollywood during the past several decades, that is nothing for them to be ashamed about. It should be a point of pride that through hard work and creativity, they have made a mark during a time that certain fields were closed  to them due to discrimination. Even in my lifetime, I saw country clubs in Los Angeles that excluded  Jews, so that they had to have their own places to  play golf like Hillcrest Country Club. And if it was a Jew who actually created Superman, so what? There is a vast difference between a Jew creating something and something being created by "the Jews".

This is nothing more than the latest example of Jew-hatred following in the footsteps of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and Der Stuermer. It is part and parcel of the effort to destroy the Jewish state of Israel.

Salafist Hate Monger Speaks in Duisburg, Germany

250 Salafisten bei Kundgebung mit Pierre Vogel in Duisburg

On Saturday, about 250 Salafist (extremist) Muslims gathered in Duisburg, Germany to hear a speech by Pierre Vogel, a convert to Salafist Islam regarded as a hate monger in Germany. About 20 counter-protesters were also present.

In response, a heavy police presence stood by, and an interfaith  meeting was held by Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders which was also attended by the Lord Mayor of the city in order to counter the event.

According to this account in Vlad Tepes, some counter demonstrators were physically attacked by Salafists, and the black flag of al Qaeda was flown.

A Black Supporter of Israel Gets the "Uncle Tom" Treatment From the Left

Chloe Valdary, a courageous young black student at the University of New Orleans, is a public supporter of Israel. As such, she has come under attack from the pro-Palestinian factions in the US. Now they have stooped to a new low in using the tired old "Uncle Tom" language to discredit her. Such language comes from anti-Israel Seattle blogger Richard Silverstein.

Campus Israel Hate Week Events Kicking Off

Hat tip Legal Insurrection and Pro Israel Bay Bloggers

The crazy season is starting again.

Professor William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection has an important piece on the well-organized Israel Apartheid Weeks kicking off around the nation. He also highlights how the incoming president of the American Studies Association, Lisa Duggan, is promoting an event, but wants public dissemination restricted less opposing voices want to weigh in.

http://legalinsurrection.com/2014/02/vicious-and-deceptive-anti-israel-propaganda-hate-week-starts/

I note that two professors/propagandists from UCLA and UC Santa Barbara are traveling across country to speak (Robin Kelley and Lisa Hajjar respectively). It's a wonder these people have time to teach their classes.(Or maybe they don't.)

Of course, one of the standard speakers at these events on California campuses is Oakland imam Amir Abdel Malik Ali. I am re-posting a video appearing on Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers from March 2011 showing Ali at a speech at UC Davis. At this appearance, about 35 pro-Israel community members showed up and participated in the q and a. The result was that Ali was unable to deal with knowledgeable questions about Jews who were driven out of Arab lands in 1948, treatment of apostates from Islam, his support for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iran, and treatment of non-Muslims in Muslim majority lands. In the end, Ali resorts to pulling out the race card in desperation. It was not his finest hour.

http://proisraelbaybloggers.blogspot.com/2011/03/malik-ali-at-uc-davis.html

The above is a textbook case of how the pro-Israel faction needs to respond to these anti-Israel events on campus. And that means not listening to those timid Jewish voices who advise you not to come to campus and get involved as we have seen at UC Irvine.

Of course, UC Irvine's hate week will take place in May to coincide with Israel's birthday.

Obama's Refugee Policy: "Minor" Terror Supporters OK-Persecuted Christians Need Not Apply

Hat tip Investors.com and Creeping Sharia

"Yet the State Department has rejected virtually all of the 20,000 asylum applications from Coptic Christians trying to escape Egypt since the toppling of its pro-American regime.

Meanwhile, it's welcoming terrorist supporters pushed out by Cairo's renewed military crackdown on the Brotherhood."

The below editorial by Investors.com paints a troubling picture of President Obama's refugee policy. While turning a blind eye to terrorist connections for some, persecuted Christians in the Middle East are being rejected.

http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/022114-690860-obama-immigration-reforms-seem-to-come-with-religious-test.htm?ref=SeeAlso"

While I am not yet ready to join the conspiracy theorists who say Obama is a secret Muslim, I do believe that the President sympathizes with the designs and objectives of the Muslim Brotherhood to prevail in Egypt and to spread its tentacles throughout the Middle East and beyond. There is no other conclusion that makes sense. Meanwhile, he turns a blind eye to the horrific persecution of religious minorities that occur throughout the Islamic world. This is a foreign policy that not only lacks any strength, but lacks morality as well.

Susan Rice Has No Regrets

In an administration filled with people who have no shame, Susan Rice stands out like a Texas-size turd blossom. In this interview with NBC's David Gregory on Meet the Press today, she continues the great Benghazi lie and says "she has no regrets".

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/02/23/rice-acknowledges-some-her-benghazi-info-was-incorrect-but-has-no-regrets/

Here is the text of the above Fox News article. My comments are interjected in bold print.

National Security Adviser Susan Rice said Sunday she has no regrets over what she told the American public about the 2012 Benghazi terror attacks in the immediate aftermath of the deadly strikes.
"Je ne regrette rien" as Edith Piaf sang
Rice did a round of Sunday TV interviews a few days after the attacks, in which some of the information she gave was later proven incorrect.
Not incorrect. Lies.
“What I said to you that morning, and what I did every day since, was to share the best information that we had at the time,” Rice told NBC's “Meet the Press” moderator David Gregory on Sunday. “The information I provided … was what we had at the moment.”
Nonsense. The people on the ground in Libya told their superiors in Washington that it was a coordinated terrorist attack and that there was no protest that went out of control. That information was provided to DOS before Rice appeared on the Sunday talk shows. Indeed, it has been shown that the Pentagon, General Martin Dempsey, and Leon Panetta were told a terrorist attack was happening just before they went to the White House to meet President Obama.
Rice said “No,” when Gregory asked whether she had any regrets about her statements.
She should tell that to the families of the four dead Americans and those that survived the attack and in some cases, are still recuperating from their wounds.
She also said nobody in the administration intended to mislead the public, but acknowledged some of her information was inaccurate.
Lies. Flat out lies. Not some of the information. All  of it.
“That information turned out, in some respects, not to be 100 percent correct," Rice said. "But the notion that somehow I or anybody else in the administration misled the American people is patently false. And I think that that's been amply demonstrated."
Note the equivocal choice of words ("..in some respects not to be 100 percent correct"). Amply demonstrated? What has been amply demonstrated is that the administration perpetrated a lie upon the public. The talking points memo was changed by people within the administration and State Department to fit their own narrative that what happened at Benghazi was a protest gone awry and to continue the myth that Libya was stable. The administration and State also knew that if it got out that al-Qaeda-linked terrorists were running loose all over Eastern Libya, the previous pleas for enhanced security from the post at Libya would surface and put the lie to the entire narrative.
She was, at the time, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a top candidate to become secretary of state.
However, Rice withdrew herself from consideration in the wake of the attacks on the U.S. outpost in Benghazi, Libya, after the firestorm of criticism she received for her response.
Rice said Sunday she didn’t know whether her responses killed her chances of getting the top U.S. diplomatic post.
She  doesn't know. I know. Anybody with half a brain knows.
“I don’t know,” she said. “What I do know is that I [now] have a great job.”
She has a great job, and four Americans don't have a great job because they are dead.
Four Americans were killed in the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, and State Department information management officer Sean Smith, also died in the attack.
Rice said the Benghazi attacks appeared to be a "spontaneous reaction” to an anti-Islamic video on the Internet.
The administration later said the attacks appeared pre-planned, but exactly who and what started them remains unclear, despite several investigations.
Pseudo investigations-like that DOS Accountability Review Board "investigation" that cleared Hillary Clinton without even interviewing her.

Ms Rice may have no regrets, but an entire nation has regrets over this tragedy that never should have happened. Rice may argue that as then-ambassador to the UN, she was not directly involved in the information flow, but she sure was in a position to find out what the facts were within the next five days when somebody handed her a doctored sheet of talking points and sent her of all people out to face the Sunday talk shows instead of Hillary Clinton, who was "too tired" to do her job (translation: answer hard questions about where she was and what she was doing on that fateful evening).

And isn't it interesting that Rice, instead of appearing on all five networks today as she did after the Benghazi attack, chose to appear only with a sympathetic David Gregory and the friendly confines of NBC?

Either Susan Rice knowingly lied on those Sunday talk shows, or she was incredibly derelict and naive in not asking the people around her for the facts before blindly going out and repeating those absurd talking points about a video. In either case, she "amply demonstrated", to  borrow a phrase,  that she is unfit to be either secretary of state or national security adviser.
