Peter King has it right. President Obama needs to make a firm public statement now for the benefit of all of us-and President Morsi- that the US absolutely will not release Rahman under any circumstances. The current denials that anything is "under consideration" is not sufficient.

Why should Obama, born to a Muslim father and raised in his early life by a Muslim step-father, who made his first foreign speech in Cairo, inviting the Muslim Brotherhood, deny Morsi's wish.
Obama will not publically deny Morsi, as he should, due to having MB members close to him and in his administration.

If he denied it, then it must be true.
As long as the Sheikh remains in prison, I don't care what language the Obama administration uses about it.
He was, after all, convicted of master-minding a rather large-scale arson and attempted multiple murders. (Multiple is an understatement), not of being Muslim.
If I were the president, I would say that in so many words, but I'm not, and there may be sound tactical reasons to be tacit.
Releasing the prisoner, under U.S. law, would require a presidential pardon, or commutation of sentence, both so inflammatory as to be highly unlikely.
I suspect all personalities are playing to home town crowds without any real expectation of results.
Remember Marc Rich? Holder was involved in that one too.
