Libya Re-visited in Syria

Hat tip Atlas Shrugs

-"Hey Ollie. Is there a bar here somewhere?"\
-"Ach!"

Atlas Shrugs has posted a video of a series of attacks in Iraq by Sunni Jihadist fighters, specifically a faction called  al Nusra, which  is tied to al-Qaeda, as well as  Western-supported forces fighting the Syrian government.  The video is accompanied by stirring background music punctuated by cries of "Ollie Ollie Oxen-Free" (phonetic spelling). Oh yes. It is graphic.

Now in no way am I defending the Syrian government of Bashar Assad, and the sooner he is dead the better. However, after the example of Libya, am I wrong to question why we would even sully our hands in this latest mess? I can just envision the scenario now. Assad falls. A new Islamist government takes over. We send our diplomats and security people back. Next thing you know, our embassy is attacked and our people slaughtered by an Islamist mob tied to al Qaeda.

"Play it again, Sam."

Oh yeah. And it is all blamed on a Laurel and Hardy video.
