CSU Chancellor Charles Reed Retiring (I Wonder Why)

California State University Chancellor Charles Reed speaks, at a CSU trustees meeting in January.
CSU Chancellor Charles Reed

Embattled California State University Chancellor Charles Reed, who has been featured several times on this site, has announced that he is retiring.

"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah."

Here is the laudatory LA Times report.

Reason? He wants to spend more time with his family in Florida.

Right.

Last seen, Reed was arrogantly defending the extravagant spending on restaurants and hotels he and his CSU fellow-honchos have been engaging in-some $766,000 worth-from CBS investigative reporters. The LA Times report said nothing about that.

Nor did the Times mention that Reed has been plagued by complaints from an organization called the AMCHA Initiative, led by a group of Jewish academics, which wants him to address complaints about CSU professors and officials using CSU web servers to spread their personal political propaganda-and attack the AMCHA Initiative for raising the issue. To date, Reed has not even replied to the numerous letters he has received from AMCHA.

I guess now he won't have to.

At a certain point, it worth it to oust the incumbent. We don't know how bad the replacement will be but we know the current one is intolerable and unwilling to change.

Reminds me of some local organizations that could really use a change at the top.
