Orange County Rabbi Comments on Olive Tree Initiative

Rabbi Dov Fischer is a critic of the UC-Irvine Olive Tree Initiative. These comments on OTI come via the OC Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism. They are in response to this week's OTI activities on the UCI campus.

Sounds sensible to me. Personally, I don't have time for this nonsense. Much bigger fish to fry.

I applaud you for taking Fisher's advice. You have certainly gone out of your way to highlight OTI as a point of contrived controversy. Throughout it all, those in favor have helped, and will no doubt continue to do so, those opposed have declined.

The notion of an "independent" task force on anti-Semitism is ludicrous. The task force, rather obviously, has a point of view, which it exists to advance. That is the right of each and all participants. But they are independent only in the sense that nobody is making them adhere to the viewpoint they adhere to.

The world according to Siarlis Jenkins(or whoever you are).....

The only thing that is ludicrous is your constant blather. You seem to have limitless opinions about subject matter with little or personal experience. Is there someone at home that has to endure your endless "opinions" or do you talk to yourself? My sympathies go out to anyone who would have to listen to you constantly

Cialis, why don't you leave the computer for a while, get up off that couch and go out and have some fresh air? Better yet, why don't you go out and look for a Job?

I like reading Siarlys' comments. I don't always agree but I like that he presents a different point of view.

His comments are welcome.

I'm not suggesting that he stops altogether. Different viewpoints is a good thing. My point is that oftentimes he comments about things he knows absolutely nothing about, and in an arrogant manner.

Ted, if you could get past the invective and offer a criticism with some substance, perhaps explain exactly WHAT it is you disagree with, and why, you might well be worth listening to. Gary manages to do that quite often.

In case you haven't noticed, I was out of internet access for nine days. I was taking Amtrak across the country, passing the sacred precincts of Wrigley Field on the Red Line train, taking buses all over D.C., spending several hours a day in a cramped basement archive poring over some great reporting on "Peace Prospects in the Holy Land," circa 1955, catching up on babies old friends have had since I last saw them, and taking photos of the often ignored statue of the greatest general in the Civil War, George H. Thomas, among other things. I also took my niece to Ellis Island. 'Nuff said about leaving the computer for a while.

I hadn't noticed. Hope you had a good time.

I did, thank you.
