Students For Justice in Palestine Shut Down Israeli Speaker in Scotland

Hat tip to OC Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism

A few days ago, an Israeli government official was scheduled to speak at Edinburgh University in Scotland.

Watch the video linked below. The local chapter of the Students for Justice in Palestine successfully shut down the event as they actually invaded the stage.

Tonight, the UC Irvine chapter of SJP is hosting three speakers-all Jewish-all rabidly anti-Israel. One is some kind of anarchist, the other two are members of the anti-Israel Jewish Voice for Peace. One of these speakers also participated in the recent disruption of Bibi Netanyahu's speech in New Orleans. I expect that these speakers will be allowed to come and have their say without disruption.

That is because we don't act like brown-shirted thugs like they do,

Yeah, we're not Scottish.

Those protestors are all for free speech as long as it is only free to them. Nimrods.

They must not have a lot of conviction in their beliefs because they are unwilling to hear an opposing view.

The sad thing is I bet those protesters who used mob rule to prevent someone from presenting a lecture went home feeling like they stood up for freedom and were fighting oppression.

Tonight I attended an event at UCI sponsored by SJP at UCI. Three speakers all Jewish. Two were from Jewish Voice for Peace , and one is an Israel with Anarchists against the wall.

Here is what came out of this affair. Two of the speakers made it very clear that they do not recognize the right to speak of anyone who defends Israel. One of the women was Rachel Roberts (JVP) who participated in the disruption of Netanyahu's speech in new Orleans. They actually justified the disruption of Netanyahu's speech and the disruption of the Oren speech at UCI because it was "useless discourse." They call it "direct action".

Post to follow.

Yeah, its like the people who invaded the ACLU office chanting "No free speech for Nazis" when ACLU was carrying the ball for Frank Collin to hold his Nazi parade in Skokie. ACLU's position of course was "we expect the First Amendment to be upheld." I admit, that one remains a very close call for me. If I thought a neo-Nazi movement was in a position to actually take power in the U.S., I would consider extra-legal methods to stop them justified. But arrogating to one self the right to decide which speech is "useless discourse" smacks of 1984.

USELESS DISCOURSE!

Are you reading my drafts while in progress, Siarlys? I heard the term used last night at UCI.
Stand by.

You used the term in your own comment responding to anonymous, on this post. I got the term from you Gary. It was neither original thinking nor prescient.
