The Arrogance of Arnold Schwarzenegger

As previously reported, Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his last day in office as California governor, commuted the sentence of Esteban Nunez, who was serving a 16 year sentence for his part in the stabbing death of Luis dos Santos in San Diego. Nunez is the son of former California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, a friend and political ally of the ex-governor. The sentence was reduced to 7 years and has caused outrage in the state.

It also turns out that Schwarzenegger never even contacted the victim's family prior to the commutation. In short, nobody, including the San Diego DA's office was notified before the commutation.

Now Freddy Santos, the victim's father, is speaking out. Today, he was interviewed on Larry Elder's radio show. In the wake of the anger over the commutation, Schwarzenegger sent a letter to Mr Santos apologizing for not notifying him prior to the commutation. According to Mr Santos, there was no apology for the commutation itself, but only for not notifying him beforehand.

And to make things worse, Schwarzenegger refused to answer a reporter's questions about the issue. The below-linked video is from KCAL (Los Angeles).

It is all so disgusting what we have for political leadership in California.
