"Re-education" at the University of Minnesota

University of Minnesota, College of Education and Human Development (Actually, it's Moscow State University.)

The below article by Katherine Kersten at the Minneapolis Star-Tribune has caught the attention of several blogs including David Horowitz's Frontpage Magazine. It concerns an initiative by the University's College of Education and Human Development to begin a new training program for teacher trainees, one that would "prepare them for teaching multi-cultural students in the 21st century". (Teacher Education Redesign Initiative-TERI) Apparently, one of the goals of the new program is to make the prospective teachers-at least the white ones- come to grips with their own "bigotry". Not just come to grips with it, but to confess it!

There's a student now (probably on his way to lunch with the faculty).
"I confess."

Here it is. Read it yourselves.

Below is the website of the program. Open it up and be prepared to do a lot of clicking.

When we talk about the indoctrination that goes on in our universities, this can only be called a smoking gun.

Just maybe there are poor test scores because:

1. Bad Teachers
2. Teaching to the Test.
3. The students are really stupid and should be steered towards auto mechanics and plumbing instead of college.

But this is just so bad I can see an influx of people home schooling.

How truly tragic and disgusting!
We home schooled our two kids for years. This was primarily because
Oregon, years ago adopted "Outcome Based Education." Where all kids
are 'taught' to pretty much
come out of the education system
'equal.' Where all the kids are
pretty much mainstreamed to be the same.

This "Re-education" is what the
NEA has wanted for a long time.

The seeds to this were planted in the early 1960's. Great post, and excellent job.

This is an insult to every auto mechanic or plumber. Findalis, you always pretend to be so politically correct (you hardly ever are) but this takes the cake.
Next time fix your own garbage disposal.

Ingrid when have I ever been PC. BTW have you hired an mechanic or plumber recently? They earn more money than doctors and lawyers, they are always working and their families never go hungry.

So instead of push college on every child, many should be pushed towards the real professions that earn a good living. Plumbers, Mechanics, Electricians, etc...

Findalis, I agree with not pushing college on every kid, but you said that students who are stupid should become plumbers. I don't have a plumber in my family, so I am not defending anyone.

Have you ever noticed that some children cannot do hard academic work even if they don't have ADHD, or the rest of the alphabet soup that schools throw out at parents instead of stating the obvious fact is that their little brat is just plain dumb.

Push such children towards these careers will help more youngsters who would quit school, graduate (especially if they received their Journeyman certificates).
