The Attack on the Queen in the Netherlands
(Radio Nederland via Klein Verzet)
The above video shows the attack yesterday in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, in which a male driver drove through police barricades in an attempt to crash into the royal motorcade carrying Queen Beatrix and members of the royal family. The incident happened as the Queen was helping the country celebrate Queen's Day.
The driver struck down several pedestrians before crashing into a monument to Queen Wilhemina. Five people are reported dead. The driver, tentatively identified as Karst Tates, a Dutch male in his 30s, is in a hospital in serious condition.
At this point, there are several conflicting eye-witness reports. Some say a passenger was seen exiting the car before it began its rampage. Another said that the driver appeared to be unconscious before striking the monument. It has also been reported that Tates told police he was trying to kill the royal family. The above probably should be considered unconfirmed at this point.
